I am relocating to SLC and found these apartments. Does anyone live there?

What about general feedback for the Marmalade District? I am 24 and looking for a younger, but safe neighborhood.

Frankly, I don't think the Marmalade area is all that safe. It's been an area targeted by the Redevelopment Agency (RDA) to make it better, however there are a lot of creepy people in that area.

"The Avenues" are young, hip, and probably safer.

Sugarhouse is also a good area.

If you move a few minutes up the road to Bountiful or North Salt Lake you're further away, but it's quite safe.

It's worth mentioning that Salt Lake is one of the safer bigger cities in the country so even the "bad areas". If I were you I'd probably look for places to live that are closer to the University of Utah. You'll be closer to things going on and it will be easy to find some roommates to split the rent with.

Feel free to PM me if you want to bounce some ideas around.

Marmalade Hill is a relatively safe area, It is very culturally diverse with a ton of kids. It is close to everything, and is less expensive than The Avenues. I love The Avenues, but had a hard time finding a rental that had more than 500 square feet of livable space, fit my budget and allowed pets. There are places that are affordable (under $600/mo) in the Avenues, but most of those don't allow pets or are super tiny. If you are a student or a minimalist, it could be ok, but what was available in the Avenues at the time I had to move didn't satisfy the 3 things I had to have. University of Utah area is good, though it's hard to find availability in the middle of a school year, as most rentals are taken by students. Sugarhouse is nice too, but can be expensive,

In the end I opted for Marmalade Hill Apartments. The unit I got was clean and had a newly renovated kitchen. The carpet could have been better-it's a little worn but not super bad. Ideally I would go for hardwood floors, but given the urgency of finding a new place, it's something I will just have to live with. There are lots of closets that are deep and can fit a ton of stuff. I've read other reviews about how bad everything is but so far I have no complaints. I haven't seen a single cockroach or any ants. I've had a few minor maintenance issues, but they have been resolved within 48 hours of reporting them. The staff has all been really nice. I've never gone to the office during posted hours and not had someone there.
