I live in St. Paul. I like Hudson better than River falls. Hudson is very beatiful and is closer to the twin cities. Also, Hudson is a cute little town right on the St Croix river, and is right across from Stillwater, MN, where there are tons of cute little restaurants, night life and shops. River Falls is a little further away and not as nice in my opinion.

I am guessing you are on the younger side. Hudson is a great place for retired folks, but for young people, it is hard to get a job, not much to do, but great city to raise kids in. Also, it is close to the cities which helps. But I would stick to Hudson.

unless you love BITTER COLD WINTER, I'd say stay out of Minnesota until the snow melts.. However, if you want to live there, I'd try Savage or Burnsville... both have small town charm with plenty of shopping... the homes are moderately priced and it stays relatively nice till mid October... but then bitter cold sets in all of December through early February... by March the temps are relatively the same as Upstate New York... oh and you MUST LOVE SNOW as well... they get a ton of it in Minnesota..
