My family and I are planning to take a road trip (starting from Milwaukee) up along Lake Michigan to Northern Wisconsin and then crossing the Mackinaw Bridge to get to Michigan and come back down the other side of the lake. Just wondering if anyone has any suggestions for cool/interesting places for us to stop in Michigan or Northern Wisconsin? We don't have any little kids with us so we don't necessarily need "family fun," but my mother can't walk very well so if there are any pretty landmarks or parks to stop at they need to be accessible for her, so no big hills or steep staircases to climb up. Other than that I'm curious and open to people's suggestions :)

Green Bay has a railroad museum, Manistique has the "Big Spring" (kitchi-ti-kipi) you can ride a raft on it and see the water bubble up and fish swim around, Seny has a national wildlife refuge that has a nice visitor center and a very nice scenic drive. Fayette has a nice state historic site that has one large hill but is wheelchair accessible with assistance (an old iron smelting town). The Straits area has three historic parks; two on the mainland and one on Mackinac Island. Hartwick Pines state park (near Greyling) has a lumberman's museum. Traverse City is near two lighthouses and the sleeping bear dunes national lakeshore. If you want an easy way back to Milwaukee instead of going around Chicago take the Lake Express car ferry out of Muskegeon.

you should try saugatuck Michigan its a small town that is taken care of its south on the Kalamazoo river they have many bars and fun stores to check out and you can eat on the river. i would recommend the corner bar its apart of coral gables. its a restaurant out side so if the weathers crappy then the town dies down. parking is challenging on the weekends too. this town is south west of Michigan about 12 miles from Holland Michigan which is a boring town. well have a fun trip!
