I've been living in Illinois my whole life, and I don't see any beautiful scenery here. I live around in Joliet, Illinois. I would really like to see mountains. I went to West Virginia, and it was BEAUTIFUL! But why is Illinois flat? I really don't like living here in Illinois. Even though, I am 14, and I can't move out. But once I'm old enough to move out, what are the states that have pretty scenery, with beautiful mountain scenery?

Illinois is so flat due to lack of mountainous topography. Seriously though from my own personal experience I can give you three varied but interesting possibilities. Upstate New York: try the Catskill Mountains area. I visited several times in the town of Catskill and it was absolutely gorgeous. Plus it is a short jaunt to NYC among other places. I was stationed in Rome, NY in the U. S. Air Force and the Adirondacks along with the Mohawk Valley are absolutely breathtaking. About 3 hours from NYC with lots of lakes and if you like winter tons of things to do. About 3 hours from Montreal, and about 5 hours from Niagara Falls. New Hampshire- the White Mountains are gorgeous and you are a 3 hour ride at most from Boston the Atlantic Ocean and New England is a very pretty part of the country. I saved the best for last- Colorado Springs, CO. Smack dab in the Rockies. A good friend of mine lives in an area known as Black Forest and has a ranch with horses. Denver is about 40 miles north and Colorado Springs has the U.S. Air Force Academy, an absolutely beautiful place known as The Garden of the Gods, a natural ampitheatre for live concerts known as Red Rocks. If I tolerated cold weather I would leave the Tampa Bay Florida area (Florida's highest point is I believe 120 feet above sea level) and move to Colorado Springs. Why not look into going to college in one of those places and travel to other states on Spring Breaks and other time off from college? Just a thought but it would be a way to get an idea of where you might like to live. Plus once you leave Illinois you might think it wasn't too bad of a place Hope this helps you a bit. Best of luck..

Well, I live in California and it has a lot of mountain ranges and hilly areas. Mainly most of the west coast has a lot of mountains and pretty scenery, but it is quite expensive to live around here.
