Question:
How to travel in US West Coast at Christmas ?

Me and 2 friends are going to US for holidays in Xmas. This is our first time in the US and so would appreciate advice from travellers or locals !
Sorry it’s a bit long

Details:

Fly to NYC on 16/12 (can’t change this)
Coach/bus to Washington DC on 17/12
Fly to Orlando on 19/12
Fly back to DC then coach to NYC on 24/25 and stay in NYC until New Year

My questions
1) We arrive in NYC at 8pm on 16th. Is it possible to save a nights accommodation and travel straight to DC ? I’m also worried that we arrive there like at 3 in the morning and become stranded…

2) Is 2 days in Washington DC enough ?

3) Is WAS airport in DC the best/convenient to go to ? and is Orland MCO airport the best one to fly to ? (we are mainly themeparking or beaching)

4) Is it better (less complicated, time saving, expensive ?) to just buy one way tickets and fly straight from Florida back to NYC instead of coaching from DC ?

5) Any advice on saving on accommodation at all 3 places are most welcome !

With whats going on and coming from Australia, we are eager to cut costs (but not waste time).
Cheers

well, I was looking through your question for where "west coast" comes in, but you are on east coast the whole time.

My goodness, you must be younger & more vigorous than me...after a plane ride from Oz, I wouldn't want to do anything but sleep....but if you really want, I am sure there is a night bus you can take. You will have to go into town to get it, though.

2 days in Washington enough for what?

there is no WAS airport. That's the code for the city. If you want to be in town, fly to DCA (Reagan) rather than IAD (Dulles) or BWI (Baltimore)

and as far as I know, MCO is the only commercial airport in Orlando. It's inland, probably 60 miles from beaches.

if you buy your tickets soon, you may get a good price for MCO-JFK (JetBlue?), but around Christmas things get tight & prices go up.

Saving on accommodation? what's your budget? I don't know if you are looking for backpacker accommodation in a dorm, or can spring for economy hotel, or....? But again, around Christmas in NYC, hotel space (of any kind) will be at a premium.

Unless you really like theme parks, I think I would go to Miami Beach instead of Orlando!

1. Is the flight direct from Australia to NY? If not, it might be cheaper to get a flight out of Los Angeles to DC or FL. You can always arrange shuttle service or taxi to get you your hotel no matter what time.

2. 2 days in DC is not enough. The Smithsonian alone could take 3-4 days.

3. The most convenient airport would be the one closest to where you want to spend the most time.

4. It would definitely save time to fly directly back to NYC

5. There are always great rates available if you book right.

I've had good luck on SpinCityTravel.com. If you book flight and hotels together, you can usually save money on package deals

i visit 2nd the action for Cambria. I even have stayed there two times and it somewhat is proper. Hearst citadel is close and the seafood is maximum suitable. i don't understand approximately flying there. i think of you should ought to fly to Santa Barbara and lease a automobile. i do no longer think of farther north is so good at Christmas because of the climate. San Diego could be my different determination. plenty to do and greater good seafood. must be severe high quality climate too.
