I was born on the West Coast lived there till I was 27 and then moved to the East Coast where I've been for the last 18 years.
I much prefer the West Coast-better weather, nicer beaches and the people...well,how can I say this...the people there are less uppity and more laid-back.
As soon as my son turns 18 (6yrs from now) I will be going back.
So.....which do you prefer and why...........(let the hating begin!)

The west coast, as you remember it, has changed. I grew up in PA, worked in VA and retired in SC. Naturally the Navy gave me a real perspective on things. I've been to the West coast, from WA to CA. Wildfires Earthquakes and Mudslides, far outweigh the occasional Hurricane. The cost of living comparison is out of sight. The highest prices, other than AK and HI, for fuel, food and taxes tell the tale. I don't hate the west coast, WA and OR are great. Once you cross the border and tell them you don't have any produce hidden in your trunk, it gets really bizarre. Funny, it's called the United States. CA feels it's special because of wonderful weather and job opportunities. Governed by an actor, Take a trip back before moving back.

East-coast all the way

when I think of west coast, i think of fake glamor and bright flashy things. The type of place you are fine with living in for a few months to a year, but not a place for a home.

East coast is warmer, and more intellectual at the same time (warmer as in cozy)There are great schools and colleges, and many small towns that arent all beachy. Most towns along the west coast are all beaches and no-at least for me- culture or community.

The US started on the east coast, and in my opinion, will always stay there. West coast is more of and adapted version and play on the history, culture and tight knit community of the east coast. The way I see it, its not as "real."

I like all 3 coasts for different reasons. They all offer different things. But west coast is my last choice out of the Gulf coast and East coast to live in. WA and OR maybe nice to visit, but I'd rather live in TX, FL, NY, etc...

And, I have lived all 3 places, as well as WA, CA, so, I've been around to experience all of the coasts.

West Coast - More open minded, more relaxed, NO HUMIDITY!

East Coast - More expensive, more closed minded (South Carolina), HUMIDITY, just crazy!
