Same thing WE did, long ago. You'vee gotten some good ideas from the folks here, but it depends on TWO things, if you have kids and if you have a fat wallet. If you have both.....IRVINE, NEWPORT BEACH.

If you have NEITHER, check out northern CA where the forests meet the Pacific. It's not cheap, but you can pull it off.

If you have limited funds, check out some of the places mentioned above, Corona, Fullerton, etc.

Arcadia is a well kept secret if you fall right in the middle.

San Francisco is crowded and THE most expensive. Just north is Mill Valley, B E A U T I F U L.

It's so different out here, like a dozen states in one...if I knew more about yous guys I'd be able to dial ya in. Contact me if ya want.

Nice Towns In California
?

Beaches in California are quite nice and the weather is quite optimal too. Because of this, lots of people want to live here. In turn, this makes the price of property and housing go up because of high demand. And lastly, because housing is so expensive, only the rich people can afford to live along the beaches in CA. In short, there are no affordable, smaller towns in CA that are right beside the beach. If you want "a lot to do in the town itself" then by default, the town must have a lot of people living there too; otherwise why would there be a lot to do if there is no one there to do it? Sorry

If you have children I would move to Northern California.

If you really rather southern california I would reccomend San Diego or Coranardo. Avala beach is nice so is Carmel.
