a family friendly area where it's walkable and public transportation is available. does not necessarily mean no snow ever, but the kind of place where a "dusting" would shut down the city would be nice! public transportation does not have to be NYC efficient, but to get to and from work daily would be ideal.
thank you in advance for your information!

Houston Texas, a dusting of snow shut the city down last week! (it was actual ice but same thing to us)
Houston has good transit system it's called Metro.
The metro covers all of metropolitan Houston and has connections at it's edges with other transit system for town like Baytown or Sugar Land.
The city is walkable but, within the loop (I-610) it's not the safest place.
I would recommended Baytown, just had full transit system completed that has connections to Houston Metro, it would take about an hour to get to downtown (2 buses total!) Though Baytown isn't the most walkable city, bus stops are provided in many places that are major shopping centers as well as stops in suburban area that connects them!

long island is the only US city that has actual public transport, a minimum of in assessment to what's considered reliable public transport in Europe. maximum different massive cities have some style of public transportation platforms - some are respectable, some are so-so, yet neither one comes on the brink of long island equipment and that all of them in lots of situations have very limited insurance. San Francisco arguably has the subsequent terrific subject. Boston, DC and Chicago are ok.

Dallas and Houston have above average public transportation. Atlanta and Phoenix and decent public transportation. In these cities, the public transportation is developing.
