My sister is coming for Christmas. She lives in WA and I live in MS. She has never been to the beach except in WA, so I want to take her while she is visiting. I know how icky Mississippis coast is, so I was thinking FL. I have never been to either, so I don't know which is better Pensacola or Panama City Beach?

Things to remember: going in december, traveling with two toddlers and staying no more than a day or two.

That is a difficult decision. Panama City Beach will have more things to do in the winter. They just opened a new lifestyle center called Pier Park. They have shops, restaurants, a movie theater, and bars. Pensacola Beach is a little more laid back and it will be harder to find things to do. From Pensacola Beach you can take a quick trip into Historic Pensacola and other attractions. So if you want things to do go to Panama City Beach and if you are looking to kick back with very little people around head to Pensacola Beach. For the best priced Panama City Hotels and an area guide visit http://www.panamacityhotelscheap.com. If you want to research Pensacola Beach check out http://www.cheappensacolahotels.com. Good luck!

I am from Pensacola and I would say go to Destin or Pensacola. Panama City will be having spring break so unless you want to go there with Girls Gone Wild on your honeymoon I would stay away from there. Jacksonville is on the East Coast and the sand is more like mud and the water is murky. You can also look into Orange Beach or Perdido Key. Destin, Pensacola, Perdido Key, Gulf Shores, and Orange Beach are all the same beach. It really just depends on what you want to do while on your honeymoon and where you can find the best deal. I would look up attractions online and see what interests you the most. Destin and Perdido Key are more low key with fewer people. Pensacola and Orange Beach has more people with a little more to do other than the beach. If you look up google images of each beach, that's pretty much what all the beaches look like. As far as the time of year, I would go more torwards May. In this case it will be a little bit warmer (high of 84 low of 60) and the water temperature will be MUCH warmer for swimming. However, DO NOT go to Pensacola Beach during Memorial Day Weekend. It is where the national gay pride convention is held and the beaches will be PACKED along with hotels, restaurants, etc.

Like Craig M. I have been living in Pensacola area for over 45 years. There is a great beach here and plenty to do. If you want to enjoy the beach with others around, go to P'cola beach. If you like to have the beach to yourself, go to Perdido Key State Park. Check out the website below for an enjoyable stay.
